Thank you for visiting our site! It is our great pleasure and honor to share with you some information about our company founder, Robert L. Miller, Sr., a former Superior Court Judge, decorated Navy WWII and Korean War veteran; father; grandfather; great-grandfather.
The first thing we'd like you to know about Rising Improvements is that we're a small family owned company. Any day of the week, you might run into one of us - kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews (we're spread all over the country!) - pulling someone up with a PULL ME UP or telling folks about other devices the Judge designed to help people maintain their independence better and longer. We're humbled and blessed that this beloved man and patriarch of our family lived to be 98 years old, blessing us with the determination to make life better for people everywhere. His values drive this company today and that means innovative products, affordable prices and customer service are our NUMBER ONE priorities.
Have you ever heard the phrase, "Necessity is the mother of invention?" That has never been more true than it was Judge Miller, the inventor. It was January of 2014 and the Judge needed a shoulder replacement desperately. With one shoulder already too far gone to be helped, he needed a little more movement in the "good" shoulder just so that he could do basic things like reach out and turn the pages of his newspaper in the mornings or even scratch his head. But when the doctor told him he wouldn't be able to enjoy his easy chair for three to six months after surgery because there would be no way for him to get out of it, he wasn't willing to accept that.
Determined to get the surgery so that he could begin enjoying the simple things of life again, the Judge immediately set about crafting a little device he felt sure his 125-pound caregiver could use to get him up out of his chair quickly and easily. With a couple of dowel rods and some clothes line, the Judge created the first PULL ME UP prototype. And guess what? Eva, who cared for our dad for over three decades, used this prototype to pull him out of his chair just two days after his surgery!
Convinced he was on to something, the Judge decided to improve his device. First, he made it in two sizes, adding non-slip grips to both sides, and making it a nice, bright green ABS plastic that can be easily seen. Some thing else which was very important, the PULL ME UP can be kept germ-free with a quick swipe of a sani-wipe. The PULL ME UP has become the flagship product of Rising Improvements, but it's just one of many devices the Judge designed. As a patent product product, we are excited to help people do simple things easier.
